Custom wood burning fireplace designs.

Putting up a fireplace, especially in places with cold weather, is a must. But this is not an easy task to do. Putting up a fireplace is not simply putting up another decoration to a house. By doing so, things like building code, fire codes, preference, style and materials need to be considered accordingly. The design of the fireplace, including the height, position and technical measurements, shall match the lifestyle of the homeowner as well.

Furthermore, the job does not end after the construction of the fireplace. The work still continues even after its installation. The jobs after construction include annual and regular inspections and other maintenance or preventive or precautionary check-ups.

In order to make the life of the homeowners much easier, there are five (5) points that are worth considering, which are the (1) fireplace installation considerations, (2) type of fireplace, (3) positioning, (4) choosing whether chimney or chase, and (5) choosing whether single or double-walled flue.

On the first topic, installing fireplace require compliance to specific safety guidelines like fire and building codes of a specific city. It is basic to know that one cannot build a fireplace in a combustible area. There are also increments or space allowances surrounding the fireplace area. Depending on the specific codes of the city, the material of the floor surrounding the fireplace shall not be made from easily combustible materials. The foundation, where the fireplace will be built, shall be suitable as well.

Secondly, the type of the fireplace must also be determined accordingly.  Gas fireplaces are growing in popularity and ventless gas fireplace designs have evolved far beyond the boundaries of the fake fire.  Wood burning fireplaces look, smell and sound like a real fireplace and have the ability to burn anything for anytime with no limit to design or heat produced.  There are two major types of a fireplace: namely, masonry and factory-built. The masonry type of a fireplace is usually made up of blocks, fire bricks or mortar. The factory-built, on the other hand, is usually built with lightweight firebox made up of metal.

The third topic is primarily about the physical appearance of the fireplace. Its style, design and position must not be substandard. There is a specific location that will match the homeowner’s lifestyle and preference. Furthermore, the fireplace must be placed in accordance with the positioning of the house’s windows, doors and curves or corners. Some cities even provide a standard policy, which states that the fireplace must be built at least 36 inches away from combustible surface like walls or floor.

The fourth topic talks about choosing whether to build a chimney or a chase. Chimneys and chases are, of course, different. Choosing which one to build reflects the preference, style and character of the designer and even the homeowner.

To delineate chase from a chimney, the former is usually made up of decorative and pretty covers that enclose the flue inside chimneys. The primarily purpose of using chase is to decorate or stimulate a stylish look of the bricks. Compared to ordinary chimney, the advantage of using chase is the cost. It is much cheaper to use chase because it is usually made up of either metal or wood. This, however, make the chase last not too long, unlike the life-span of a chimney, which is made of concrete bricks. On the other hand, the advantage of the chimney is its durability.

The fifth, which is the last point to consider, is choosing whether to put up a single or a double walled kind of flue. The advantage of the single-walled kind of flue is limited to its safety features when used as insulation in a masonry chimney. Double and triple walled chimney flue allow heat to rise while the flames consuming oxygen at the bottom of the chimney threaten to create a vacuum causing cool air from the top of the chimney termination cap to be pulled down through the outer flue section.  The hot air is pulled up through the inner section and cool air is pulled down through the outer section.  Double and triple walled chimney pipes are law in most states today because they are so much safer within homes built with wood and other combustible materials.

At the end of the design and the construction the enjoyment of sitting back in a cold room with a hot fire is worth every penny spent, every drop of sweat and the hours of creating the custom fireplace.  With a few accessories the wood burning fireplace can become an oven, bed warmer, home deodorizer and just a eye-magnet in the room where everyone wants to congregate.

Charbroil have evolved with the times and have continued to sell gas bbq grills with less expensive grill parts and lower end models that are a good value for the money spent.  Recently Charbroil have branched off into infrared grilling in a deal the TEC and have been selling smokers, electric barbecues and even some fireplaces and fire pits.  Charbroil cook books, sauces and rubs are made exclusively by great chefs and are great products on any gas grill.

While Charbroil barbecues and Charbroil gas grill replacement burners will never be considered the best in the world they are often the best choice and the best value for the money.  With so many years in the outdoor market the gas grills are useful, intuitive and reliable if only because the after market repair parts are so much better quality than the original grill parts.

Brinkmann barbecue grills and gas grill replacement parts.

Anyone who loves meat has, to some degree or other, a great passion for barbeques, and many consider it a true hobby. Being one of the most simple ways of cooking great meat, and having a distinctive smoky flavor, barbeques are a favorite pastime in the hot summer sundays. It should be no surprise that the popularity of brands like Brinkmann rose exponentially in the last decades and it still grows strong regardless of manufacturing changes, model differences and gas grill replacement parts.

Brinkmann
The Brinkmann society has its foundation in Dallas, Texas. For over thirty years it has been the preferred choice of many American families because of their basic qualities that made it famous: its easiness to use, the price tag and the versatility.

Not always more is better. Sometimes we just want to spend a Sunday morning cooking meat instead of trying to understand how to do it: most of the barbeque users, in fact, just want a grill to barbeque meat and very little else. Brinkmann barbeques are from this point of view, the epitome of simplicity. No useless features, just a plain barbeque that everyone can start using right away, enjoying the great smell of cooking meat. But simplicity must not be linked to low quality. The Brinkmann society is so proud of their barbeques they guarantees them for over two years. Unfortunately, these barbeques are not as durable as more expensive models but the company warranty will save you from bad surprises.

Being as simple as it can get, the price is stripped down to bare bones. You cannot find a cheaper deal than Brinkmann barbeques. For example, you can buy a Brinkmann 4-Burner Gas model for just a little less than $200 with plenty of cooking surface space to barbecue. There is a Brinkmann 2-Burner model, that is priced just a little above $100. These most economic models have more difficulties concerning the cooking, and often require constant attention to avoid burning the meat. But it is just a small concerns and the price tag is so low that it can be considered a bargain.

Of course, if you want a more professional feel for your cooking platform, you can check out more expensive models. For example, the Brinkmann Smoke N Pit Smoker, with a $500 price tag, adds even more taste and fullness to your meat, and helps control cooking of the meat. Brinkmann aims to make anyone who wishes to barbeque the perfect experience, from the most demanding customer to the most simple one.

But on one point the Brinkmann Barbeques have a value that makes everyone happy: the particular smoky flavour they give to the meat. Many customers love its taste so much, and say that is very peculiar of this particular kind of barbeques. And everyone who enjoys a good piece of meat cannot deny its wonderful taste when cooked on a Brinkmann Barbeque.

Wood Burning and Gas Log Fireplace Evolution of the Chimney Ventilation Flue.

Chimney and Flue for wood burning and gas log fireplaces.

The fireplace chimney is as old as buildings themselves and has evolved from a crude hole in a mud and wattle hut to highly engineered structures  built into the home as part of the structural support. The purpose of a chimney is to provide air to fuel the fire and vent smoke and fumes outside the home.  Both wood burning and gas log fireplaces need some ventilation design and  chimney is the most popular way to pull smoke and harmful chemicals out of a room.  Heart kits that use ventless gas fireplace burners and logs designs do not need a chimney or other form of ventilation.

While a chimney can be made of many materials, the most commonly seen is the brick chimney.  There are also metal chimneys available like the "Chase" design where the chase chmney runs out the wall and then straight up the house beyond the roof line.  Brick and mortar or cement chimneys were the first built and offer a traditional look and excel in vertical strength. Cement or brick chimneys are often integrated into the building at construction and multi-story houses will often multiple chimneys stacked atop each other in a line and reaching the roof. Brick or Cement Chimneys are usually lined with another material such as tile. The lining in a chimney helps ease cleaning, improve performance and enhance safety. Terra cotta is very commonly used as a brick or cement liner while aluminum or steel might be the flue liner for a metal chimney.

Recently metal chimneys have become increasingly popular for a number of reasons; they are pre-constructed and usually lighter than a traditional brick or cement chimney and in a few situations somewhat less expensive. Although aesthetically a metal chimney is somewhat less desirable they can be rendered more pleasing with the use of a façade, allowing the exterior of the metal chimney to appear much like a traditional chimney. Different types of metal chimneys are used in different situations. The most common commercially available metal chimney types are single walled galvanized steel, double walled type B and type L. Type B double walled chimneys use aluminum in the inner wall to help resist rust and corroding, while type L uses steel in the inner wall to add strength the structure.

Chimneys are constructed to take advantage of the fact that hot air rises, heat from the fireplace warms the air, which rises and cooler air is drawn to the fireplace to provide more fuel for the fire.  A chimney is generally constructed to rise almost vertically to encourage unobstructed airflow to the exterior. Generally, the chimney should extend at least two to feet above any part of the building to which it is attached. While this is a minimum in many situations the chimney must be taller than minimum to allow enough of a "pull" to produce a proper fire.

In higher altitudes, more air is required to fuel the fire and hence the chimney must be taller. Most metal chimneys are factory fabricated which explains some of their appeal, but the height can be adjusted by adding sections or choosing a taller chimney when necessary. A fireplace chimney cap should protect even metal chimneys. This will direct the rain or snow to the sides rather than trickling down the chimney. Chimney caps and cowls can be used to extend the height of the chimney as well as protect the flue from the elements.

The most often fireplace chimney replacement part purchased by homeowners is the termination cap.  The termination cap is designed to allow air flow while blocking snow, rain, birds and bugs from using the chimney for a place to live, nest or access the inside of a home.  In a vicious storm string winds can damage a chimney cap that is older and the termination cap can be pulled free exposing the flue running through to the fireplace.  Once left exposed even if the fireplace is not in use - and especially if the fireplace is not in use - the fireplace itself, gas log burner and valve, firebox and even the flue can be damaged by weather, moisture and critters.  The chimney termination must be repaired and always properly installed.

The use of the chimney is to extract gasses and smoke created by burning gas and burning wood from the fireplace.  The length of the flue within the fireplace has to be tall enough to create a "pull" and there can be no air leaks between lengths of flue.  The chimney makes it safe for us to heat our home with a beautiful fireplace instead of a smelly and unattractive electric or gas heater.

Solaire Infrared Grilling and Replacement grill parts for barbeque repairs

Solaire Infrared Grilling

Solaire Infrared Grilling is a way to get great grilling results in a simplified method. Solaire Grills are made by Rasmussen Iron Works, which began in 1907 as a gas log fireplace company in Whittier, California.

The Solaire infrared grill is not your ordinary stainless steel gas grill because under each hood is the infrared technology that allows over a thousand degrees of grilling heat. This burner helps to lock in the natural juices of the food, which results in a more flavorful outcome than traditional gas grills. The grills only need to preheat three minutes and they offer faster cooking, up to 50 perfect faster than traditional gas grills.

The benefits of faster grilling times and quick pre-heat times means you can grill more often in less time.  This is the perfect grill for busy lifestyles and the infrared burner makes cooking outdoors faster than traditional barbecuing. This means easier outdoor cooking and better flavor.  When food is grilled at temperatures over one thousand degrees the outsode of the food is sealed, locking all moisture inside the food.  When a traditional blue-flame barbeque transfers heat through the air trapped inside the barbeque hood the food cooks slowly, surrounded by heat.  Surrounded by heat at approximately five hundred degrees the food drips and moisture is lost.  A grill capable of grilling at temperatures over one thousand degrees sears the outer layer of the food and locks the moisture in, producing better flavor.

In order to understand how the Solaire infrared grill burner work, it is vital to look at the basis for the grill and the faster cooking possibilities.   The grill needs to be pre-heated for approximately three minutes on the highest setting to allow the infrared burners to pressurize.    The food (meat or vegetables) are seared for 2 to 3 minutes on each side, also on the highest heat to sear the outer layer.  Once seared the temperature can be lowered depending on what you are cooking (meat takes longer than vegetables, for example).   Once the cooking has completed, it is important to allow the food to stand inside the grill for about 3 to 5 minutes because it continues to cook even when you have turned the grill off. The process of searing food makes the food very juicy and great-tasting as opposed to a traditional gas grill

Obviously, the first benefit of grilling with infrared burners is having more flavorful food, but there are many other benefits that are simply not found in grills without the infrared technology. These benefits include a more efficient grill grilling foods up to 50 percent faster and using less energy. It is better for your gas bills and better for the environment.  Infrared grills have less  flare-ups because the units do not have a secondary heating element like heat shields or a briquette grid and therefore grease cannot become trapped and catch on fire. Solaire infrared grills are extremely versatile allowing infrared burners and convectional blue-flame burners to be interchangeable for grilling everything from steaks, ribs, fish, seafood, pork, and vegetables.  The infrared burner design provides even heating within the grill maximizing the effective grilling area of the cooking grates and the flavor is more similar to charcoal without the mess of lighting and cleaning up a charcoal barbecue.

Solaire infrared grills come in different sizes to meet your needs. These sizes include the 27-inch, 30-inch, 42-inch, and the massive 56-inch grills. The larger 42-inch and 56-inch gives you the ability to cook an entire meal right on your grill. The grills come with or without carts convenient for custom outdoor kitchen construction.

The size should correlate to the size of your grilling. In other words, purchasing the smallest grill because it is the least expensive may not be the best choice for you if you have a very large family. You want a grill large enough to accommodate your food so that everyone can enjoy it at the same time.  It is difficult to understand without using an infrared grill but the cooking space of an infrared grill can be much smaller than a traditional barbeque and still produce more space for cooking because of the speed and technology.

The Solaire Infrared Grill is not your average gas grill and makes a great addition to anyone's backyard. The fact that it cooks so much faster means you can enjoy outdoor tasty food more often and with more flavor than anything else on the market.
